CHESED
The term "G'MACH" is an acronym for "GeMilAs
CHesed" referring to any act of kindness which may include sharing,
borrowing, lending, giving away or renting (the rental fee going to charity).
Chesed, usually translated as "lovingkindness", is a fundamental quality
inherent to many of the commandments, and acts of chesed are obligations
the entire Jewish community takes seriously.
Much of the information found on this page is derived from the "Chesed
Network News" newsletter, sponsored by http://www.lajewishguide.com/
and Yeshivas Cloverdale. We hope you find these numbers and points of
contact useful in doing mitzvot.
YICC CHESED OPPORTUNITIES
Food For The Homeless
Are you aware that every Saturday, all of the leftovers from our Shul's
Shabbat Kiddush and Seudah Shlishit was thrown in the garbage? Realizing
that this is a sin of "Bal Taschit," our Shul has decided to collect the
food and deliver the leftovers to a homeless shelter in West Los Angeles.
Each Saturday night, on a rotating basis, Shul members will be asked to
take the food and deliver it to the shelter near Sepulveda. This will
serve as a wonderful "Kiddush HaShem" as well as a fantastic act of "Tikun
Olam."
If you are interested in participating in this special Chesed, please
contact the Shul office.
